Bill Bennett

Bill Bennett and his wife Mary have been married since May
26th, 1954. They have 5 children. Rick Bennett 1955-1992,
Drema Lynn 1956-1986, William "Eddie" Bennett, Randy
Bennett, and Bryon Bennett. They have 1 grandson, 2
grandaughters, and 5 great grandchildren.
Bill Bennett went to his first race when he was 17 years old in
1950 at Princess Ann Speedway in Norfolk, Virgina. In
1952-1955 Bill served as a Marine in the Korean War. In 1955
he remembers seeing Jack Bowsher win at Skyline Speedway
in Charleston, West Virgina. In 1956 he moved to the
Cincinnati, Ohio area and attended the Cincinnati Race Bowl
in Evondale, Ohio. In 1957 Bill started going to races with Jim
Cook and from that day on there was no stopping him. Bill can
remember giving Rodney Combs rides to the track when he
was a kid. Anybody who knows him would not be surprised as
Bill goes out of his way to help anyone he can. He loves the
sport and is truly a Hall of Famer. Not only in racing, but in
life itself.

FAVORITE RACE: Dream 100 Eldora Speedway

FAVORITE DRIVER: I could never just pick one. I love
many. I would name some but it would not be fair to leave
someone out. I made so many great friends through the years.

ANYTHING YOU WOULD CHANGE: I wouldn't change a
thing. I love this sport, good times and bad. I think over 90%
of race fans are true, and would be there no matter. You
either love it or hate it, but the ones who love it, love it forever.

MODEL HALL OF FAME: Ralph Latham, Jay Wyatt, Carl
Kiser, Gene Crittenden, Floyd Gilbert, Billy Teegarden,
Chuck McWilliams, John Mugivan, Vern LeFevers, and
many, many more. Thats another tough question, I think the
older drivers should be put in first.
