Scott Bloomquist overcame the loss of his breather just before the
midpoint of the second annual Colossal 100 at Lowe's to go on and capture
another $50,000 check from the immaculate NC facility at which he has
enjoyed great success
Earl Pearson, Jr. (44) turned in the quick lap in qualifications for the
second annual Colossal 100 and went on to an eighth-place finish in the
early season mega event at Lowe's Dirt Track
Mike "Blazo" Balzano (e1) duels with Josh "Kid Rocket" Richards (1) in
prelim action at Lowe's before the past winner from Parkersburg, WV
went on to score a top ten run in the first crown jewel of the season
Jimmy Owens (20) takes if three-wide with Derrick Ellis and Tim Fuller
(19) in B Main action at the Colossal as the man known as the "Newport
Nightmare" played the "alphabet game" coming from a C main to a B
Main to the feature and then an amazing third-place finish
Title event sponsor Circle K Food Stores really got in to the spirit of the
second annual Colossal 100 providing a dirt late model pace car for the
new early season "must-see" event
Darrell Lanigan (29) and John Blankenship (23) share the front row for the
prestigious second annual Colossal 100 at Lowe's Dirt Track before going
on to finish 10th and 19th, respectively in the star-studded feature
Event quick timer Earl Pearson, Jr. (44) and now two-time and only winner
of the Colossal 100, Scott Bloomquist (0), go head-to-head in the early
stages of the early season spectacle at Lowe's Dirt Track
Scott Bloomquist (0) and Chris Madden (44) traded the lead several times
in the late going of the Colossal 100, but in the end, Bloomquist was able to
pull away despite a potential engine problem to secure his second
consecutive $50,000 win in the event
Shannon Babb (18) came into Lowe's riding a two-win victory streak in
WoO action, and was a factor in the early stages of the Colossal 100, but
after clipping a tire on the apron of the speedway, he was hampered, but
still mananged to finish fifth behind defending series champion Timmy
McCreadie (39) who electrified the crowd with his charge to the front
Steve Francis (11) came from deep in the field to score a sixth-place finish
in the Colossal 100 as he is seen here dueling with the man who followed
him to the stripe, Steve Shaver (30)
For the second consecutive year, Scott Bloomquist
earned the right to don the ceremonial "armor"
and wield the sword as the champion
of the Colossal 100 at Lowe's Dirt Track
